I´m cutting and cutting and cutting and...

Finally there is a pattern for the top of my daugther´s dress. It looks a bit funny but it´s because of the drape there is going to be....

This Wednesday we were on a fabric hunt trip together with two of Josefin´s friends, Josefin and Sabina. They all found what they were looking for lucky for that!

The aqua silk fabric was purchased a few weeks ago, but Josefin found that silver fabric which will be a part of her skirt, and the Swarovski crystals she will use as straps, very beautiful... She also found that perfect lining, not easy, difficult colour....

Josefin #2 found this silk fabric, wonderful deep red colour and some silver ribbon for decoration.

Sabina chosed this blue silk and lots and lots of tulle for her skirt.

And now I´m cutting. The aqua dress is ready for basting and this afternoon I´m working on the red one. It´s quite nervous, must do it right, expensive fabric.....but fun, a challenge. I can´t relax until the girls have tried the dresses on and they look OK. Maybe next week or so....exciting!

Of course there were fabric even for me. I purchased the last fabrics for my Hearts of Love quilt.
Now I can finish the design work and start stitching. Will be fun!

I can´t only use silk , even if it´s the most beautiful fabric and fantastic to work with.
Here are the squares I cut out a few days ago transformed into triangles. Next step is making pin wheels of them.....some day....maybe there will be time for that.....
Just kidding, I always take me some time, can´t resist.....

Now I have to go back to the cutting table, my coffee cup is empty.....

Happy stitching,

Helena

I´m looking for....

....weeks with at least 10 days. Since last post I´ve found so much fun and I couldn´t stop myself join.
The first one I found was this, an Easter Swap.
Could be fun! I´m longing for spring and Easter now, so why not? You can read more about it here.

The second one was this:

I think it could be fun, making a secret quilt and let somebody tell me how to do it. I don´t know what it will look like when it´s finished. It´s perfect for me. I´m that sort of person who don´t use patterns, not very often, I always make my own designs.

Here are the fabrics I chosed, very bright and colour ful. (Can you see, it´s a sunny day! Wow!)

This is the result so far. Next step is stitching them togehter and cut them into triangels....

On Saturday I joined this:
I started a scrap hexagon project a while ago, it´s just that fun. Planning to start another one more "organized", with some kind of flowers.

This is how that scrappy thing looks by now....but there are more hexagons cut.....

I haven´t forgotten about the dresses I have to sew, it´s just that I´m a bit (or maybe very) crazy, but it´s so fun.......

I think I have to grab the needle again......

Happy Stitching,

Helena

Finally we have started.....

.....a long journey towards my daughter´s prom on the 7th of June. She has purchased the fabric for her dress, pure silk in a very beautiful aqua colour, 10,5 meters. Prefect for her hair and skin, she has a little bit of red in her hair and some freckles when she gets sunburned. I tried to take a picture but it´s even more beautiful in real daylight.

As that fabric wasn´t the cheapest one, we decided to try the pattern on an old, cheap piece of
fabric. Not the right colour but nearly the same feeling....

If I tell you the truth there is no pattern for this dress. I had to take that fabric and try to drape it on a top with needles. And it came out ok for her. The skirt will be long, of course, even more draped, bubbly, with rhinestones and beads and flowers....oh, my God, no time for rest.....

Her back will be naked.

About the shoulder-strap, they will be made of rhinestone, but this was the only thing we had at home for the moment. I´m not going to give her away as a present, she´s to cute for that....

But this is not the only dress I have to sew, I´ve promised two of her friends making theirs too.
I think I´m busy....

Take care,

Helena

Longing for light!

Spring and summer and more day light are on top of my wish list now. It´s so difficult to take pictures, but I want to show you what I´ve been up to the last days.

The Love quilt is nearly finished and will be send to Germany and Herzblatt next week. I only have to stitch down the binding tonight.

And at the same time I will send away the Crocodile prize, haven´t forgotten that, finished yesterday. But secret until it arrives by Lori in Florida (no blogg), no picture until then.

And Jeanette, your little parcel is also on it´s way.....

This one is (or was) a real UFO, the first I made to try quilting by hand, and earlier today I put on the binding. Finished!

Earlier this week I joined the Calendar Quilt Challenge and here are the first stripes pieced together. There will be one stripe added every day this year, cut from the project I was working on. Every month there will be a little stitchery, today I stitched January. There will also be small stitcheries now and then for special occasions. From now I will post about this quilt here.

Three scrap log cabin blocks were made too, 16 done, "only" 134 left.
And yesterday evening there were some scrap hexagons added to my hexagon scrap quilt, but no picture of that today.

Now it´s time to pick up the needle, happy stitching,

Helena

I´m back on track.....

....I hope. Feeling much better now. Today the holidays are over in Sweden and it´s time for work again. And I´m back in my studio, full time. There has been some stitching, but mostly at home, by hand.

I know I haven´t left so many comments during the last weeks, but I have visited lots of blogs and read lots of posts. And I´ve really enjoyed it. But in some way my brain couldn´t produce words, not fun at all, but I think it has recovered now....
I know I have promised things that I haven´t done, but I haven´t forgot......soon.....

My Angels are staring at me saying that they will fly away now, and they will, just a few small things left on those patterns. They are on their way. And Betsy, havn´t forgot yours....

And the last of them, for this time, was finished yesterday, My Christmas Angel. A little bit late, or can I say a little bit early.....
It´s the first WISP I´ve finished for the challenge I wrote about in my last post.
Tonight I will finish another one, a mini star quilt. Only the binding left to stitch down.
And then I will work on my coffee cup quilt.....

Of course I have to start new projects too.
Soon it´s time for my Hearts of Love quilt.....
Fabrics for my Winter Bag and for my Spring Bag are in my cupboard, prewashed, ready to be cut.....
And there will be more, I promise, because I can´t stop.....

Yesterday I visited Fiesta and found this, and there it was, my next new project:

Perfect for me. Check it out, but hurry up, today is the last day to join.....

I wish you all a happy new and creative stitching year,
Hugs from a sunny and snowy Sweden,

Helena

A challenge!

May Britt and Kris are hosting this challenge. I think it will help me to get more organized. You only have to finish a WISP (Work In Slow Progress) or an UFO each month, and there will be prizes..... Go and check it out, it will be real fun....

Happy Stitching,

Helena

Congratulations.....

...Herzblatt, you are the winner of my Love quilt!!! If you let me know your address I will send the quilt to you.

Thank you everybody for your wonderful sayings. I will use some of them on my Hearts of Love quilt and the others I will save. I collect sayings, love them.

Tonight I´m a baby (read kitten) sitter. I´m in my son´s apartment together with this little cutie, Alfons

The pictures are from Christmas Eve, Alfons was very helpful then, helped us open our presents.
At the moment my daugther tries to write but he´s playing with the pen all the time.....but he´s cute.

I think this will be enough for now, a cat is walking on my computer......

Meow (mjau, I think he can´t speak English),
